 Software & applications
Software platform and user interface

The N8 will be the first device by Nokia with the Symbian^3 operating system. Symbian^3 was scheduled for the second quarter of 2010 but was pushed back to the third quarter.[8] Symbian^3 supports three home screens, each with up to six widgets that the user can customize. As with older versions of Symbian, multitasking is supported.[17] Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia's Executive Vice President for Markets, said in an interview that quality control will be better than for the N97.[7] There is a greater emphasis on the user interface and easier user-controls with Symbian^3 (such as consistency between menus, a commonly criticised factor of S^1 devices).
